History - The all-volunteer, 501(C)3 non-profit Maywood Station Historical Committee was formed in May 2002 to save, restore and preserve the 1872-built landmark New York, Susquehanna & Western railroad station in Maywood, NJ. The majority of the restoration was concluded by the membership during the summer of 2004. The station is now listed on the National and New Jersey Historic Registers. In September 2004, the station was opened as a museum covering railroad and local history. The museum has acquired and restored a caboose where additional displays and an operating model train layout are featured and New York, Susquehanna & Western ALCO S-2 Locomotive #206, which is also listed on the National and New Jersey Historic Registers.
